This research contributes to the existing body of literature and addresses a key gap by uncovering
patterns in the tactics, narratives, and perpetrators of online GBV in the MENA region, conducted within the framework
of the Masarouna programme.
This study explores how young people interact with, perceive, and critically respond to AI-generated content (AIGC), particularly amid growing challenges in distinguishing between human and machine-generated content. The rapid dissemination of AIGC – often lacking transparency and accountability – along with image manipulation, and false narratives, raises serious concerns for digital discourse and information integrity, contributing to rising distrust of the digital ecosystem.
This research analysed 125,000 Dutch news articles and combined this with 7 months of fieldwork and interviews with migrants to understand how media framing and lived experience intersect.

DeFactoApp is one of the 2024 RNW Media Innovation Fun-d winner, proposed by Mas Voces Foundation. The project targeted the rising threat of misinformation on YouTube, especially affecting Cuban youth.
