Sam Moseti (Partnership Manager) and Marah Villanueva (Monitoring and Evaluation Expert) represented RNW Media in Kampala, Uganda for the 4th Right Here Right Now (RHRN) Anglophone Africa Regional Forum, held from 6th to 8th May 2025.

This year’s forum, themed ‘Beyond the Hustle: Celebrating Our Impact, Strengthening the Movement’, marked a pivotal moment for the RHRN programme as it moves toward its conclusion in 2025. The event celebrated progress made across the region, strengthened national and regional coalitions, and helped shape future strategies for sustaining impact beyond the programme’s end.

What is RHRN?

Funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, RHRN supports young people in all their diversity to enjoy their sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in societies that promote equity and equality between genders in all aspects of life. Launched in 2021, the programme is a collaboration between Rutgers, L’Association Marocaine de Planification Familiale (AMPF), Arrow, CHOICE, Reproductive Health Uganda and RNW Media.

Forum highlights

The gathering brought together country coalitions from Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda, as well as consortium partners including Rutgers, for three days of dialogue and knowledge exchange. Participants shared experiences and best practices in SRHR advocacy across local, regional and global contexts.

RNW Media co-organised the Community of Practice (CoP) Festival, celebrating the work of four RHRN CoPs: Meaningful and Inclusive Youth Participation (MIYP), Digitalisation, Dealing with Opposition, and Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE). As the lead of the Digitalisation CoP, RNW Media co-facilitated the Digitalisation booth alongside members from Reach a Hand Uganda, Africa Media Trust, Nairobits and TAYA Ethiopia.

Spotlight on the Digitalisation Booth

The booth showcased the evolution of topics and themes explored within the CoP, key learnings and collaborative efforts such as campaign co-creation and partners’ digitalisation initiatives. We also shared our vision for sustaining the CoP beyond RHRN through The Vine, a community network members can stay connected, expand their networks and collaborate with other NGOs and independent media organisations working in the digital SRHR space.
