RNTC, the internationally renowned training center of RNW Media, provides journalism and media training to journalists, media makers, and communication professionals. Through The Vine, RNW Media’s global community, with more than 25 independent and public interest in digital media, 80 media trainers, and 10,000 RNTC alumni, we facilitate media coalition, partnership and movement building.

The Human Rights Tulip is an annual award funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs to honor and support outstanding human rights defenders. RNW Media is supporting the positioning, visibility, and digital campaign strategy for this prestigious award. To ensure our outreach resonates deeply within the Dutch public, political, and media landscape, we are seeking a dedicated Dutch-speaking intern to support our Positioning & Visibility team.

RNW Media is looking for an: 

Intern- Positioning & Visibility (Dutch Native Required)

24 hours/week

Start date: September 2026 until February 2027 (6 months)

RNW Media has been appointed to coordinate and implement the Human Rights Tulip Programmed 2026–2027 in partnership with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). The programmed aims to recognize, amplify, and support human rights defenders (HRDs) through the Central Tulip Award and decentralised Embassy Tulip Awards which provide HRDs with increased visibility, recognition, networking opportunities, and support. A key objective of the programmed is to engage Dutch audiences, particularly young people, on priority human rights issues and to contribute to broader international solidarity for human rights.

The primary objective of this internship is to support the execution of the Human Rights Tulip visibility campaign. The intern will ensure that all campaign assets, messaging, and communication strategies are accurately localised, culturally relevant, and linguistically precise for Dutch audiences, stakeholders, and media channels. 

Your key contributions: 

Working closely with the Positioning & Visibility team, the intern will perform the following duties:

  • Content Localisation & Translation: Review, adapt, and translate campaign materials (press releases, social media copy, website articles, and toolkits) from English to Dutch, ensuring complex human rights concepts are translated into accessible, engaging language.
  • Terminology Guidance: Act as the internal focal point for Dutch phrasing, political nuances, and specific human rights terminology relevant to the Netherlands.
  • Campaign Support: Assist in creating and drafting content for various digital social media channels (LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Instagram, and newsletters) throughout the campaign cycle (July–December).

You bring: 

  • Education: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Communications, Journalism, International Relations, Dutch Language/Linguistics, or Human Rights.
    Language: Native or near-native fluency in Dutch (written and spoken) is mandatory, along with professional proficiency in English.
    Skills:
    Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills in Dutch.
    Strong familiarity with the Dutch socio-political landscape, media environment and human rights. 
    Basic understanding of or keen interest in digital marketing, SEO, and social media platforms.
    Attributes: Culturally sensitive, highly organised, proactive, and passionate about human rights and social justice.

  

What do we offer? 

An interesting and exciting internship as of February 2027 that offers responsibility and room for development, for 24 hours a week, for 6 months with a monthly allowance following the national guidelines. 

You become part of a young and multi-cultural team of highly skilled professionals representing several countries. You will be working hybrid from home and from our office. We are a flexible project-based centre of expertise where you work in multidisciplinary teams. 

We have an informal and flexible work structure that emphasises well-being as much as it does quality of work.
