Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager
In a challenging, international and dynamic environment
Full-time 36 hours/week, hybrid/Amsterdam, 1-year contract subject to renewal, starting asap
Purpose of the position
The Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager plays a key role in ensuring RNW Media’s financial sustainability and strategic donor engagement. As operational co-chair of the Fundraising Team, the position ensures that fundraising efforts are well-coordinated, informed by shared donor intelligence, and aligned with organisational priorities. In collaboration with the CEO (team chair), this role coordinates the decision-making process on donor opportunities, leads internal pipeline management, and supports the preparation of high-quality proposals developed across teams. The position also leads on strategic stewardship of top institutional donors, especially the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, key Dutch foundations, and select international actors.
Your key responsibilities
Fundraising Coordination & Strategy
- Co-chair the Fundraising Team and coordinate shared fundraising efforts across the organisation
- Contribute to the development and alignment of RNW Media’s funding strategies
- Facilitate internal decision-making on donor opportunities
Pipeline Management
- Lead and maintain the organisation-wide funding pipeline
- Ensure the pipeline is up to date, accessible, and used across teams
- Monitor funding trends and donor priorities to inform strategic positioning
Proposal Development
- Coordinate cross-functional proposal development processes
- Ensure clarity on timelines, roles, and quality standards
- Support programme and innovation teams in developing strong, fundable concepts
Donor Engagement & Stewardship
- Build and maintain relationships with key institutional donors, particularly NL MoFA and Dutch foundations
- Provide strategic input on donor engagement, messaging, and positioning
- Support donor-facing visibility and engagement moments
Collaboration & Alignment
- Work closely with the CEO, Directors, and internal teams to align fundraising with organisational priorities
- Ensure coordination between partnerships, programmes, finance, and impact teams
What you bring
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field
- 5+ years of experience in fundraising, partnerships, or donor engagement in an international context
- Proven experience working with institutional donors (e.g. government, foundations)
- Strong experience in coordinating proposal development processes
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
- Strong organisational and strategic thinking abilities
- Experience working across teams and managing multiple priorities
- A proactive, self-sufficient, and solution-oriented approach to work
- Strong proficiency in English (spoken and written)
- Good command of Dutch (spoken and written), given interaction with Dutch institutional stakeholders

At RNW Media we have a competitive Compensation & Benefits package. This job is graded in salary scale 10 (€ 4,171 – € 6,087). Your salary and placement within the scale will be dependent on experience and expertise. We offer a 1-year contract, subject to renewal.
