Engaging young people for global action

Today is International Youth Day and we are responding with a call-out to young people in the Netherlands to show solidarity with their peers in restrictive countries who are taking action for change.

Safeguarding youth SRHR

Women and girls around the world are facing particular hardship from the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic. RNW Media’s Love Matters platforms are partnering in a new programme designed to safeguard the SRHR of young people, especially young women.

RNW Media at RightsCon 2020

RightsCon is the world’s leading summit on human rights in the digital age. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 edition took place online and RNW Media was one of the organisations invited to present a virtual workshop.

“Being queer in Kenya means you could go to jail”

RNW Media is marking Gay Pride 2020 with the launch of its 6-month campaign #MyStoryForAStory which aims to encourage young people in the Netherlands to show solidarity with their peers in restrictive countries. The campaign kicks off with the story of Kenyan human rights activist, Atieno.

Stories are the lifeblood of social media as people reach out to others with their thoughts, feelings and opinions. But not everybody is able to tell their story freely We are launching a campaign to encourage young Dutch people to show solidarity with their peers in countries freedom of speech is restricted.

Advocating for change in China

RNW Media’s cross-sector Justice4Her project aims to strengthen the rule of law to reduce GBV against China’s millions of women migrant workers. It has successfully advocated for improvements to provincial anti-domestic violence laws.

Real men change nappies

The Habari RDC team are in the thick of a two-month online and offline campaign, #RealMan, aimed at fighting deeply rooted sexist attitudes in the Democratic Republic of Congo and promoting positive masculinity.

Safeguarding young people online

RNW Media is proud to have taken part in one of the working groups that drew up the new Guidelines on Child Online Protection – a comprehensive set of recommendations on how to contribute to a safe and empowering online environment for children and young people.
