Purpose of the position

The Project Officer (co-)manages projects and ensures the successful implementation of projects that contribute to RNW Media’s vision and mission. This role involves supporting in or directly coordinating project teams, as well as meticulous planning and monitoring of project activities, ensuring that they are implemented within scope, on time and within the budget. The Project Officer ensures that reporting requirements are met and addresses any issues that arise during the project cycle.

You will work with an international, and multi-disciplinary project team to deliver and implement specific learning and digital media solutions that RNW Media offers. Depending on the project, you will also collaborate with our local changemakers, who are from all over the world.  

By driving project success, you will contribute to RNW Media’s mission to accelerate the impact of changemakers so that young people, in all their diversity, can confidently claim their rights, assume their place in society and drive social change.

Positioning in the organisation  

The Project Officer reports to the Team Lead Programme Management and works closely with Project Leads and other experts across the organisation. 

Your responsibilities

The Project Officer  

  • Coordinates the implementation of the project scope, deliverables and activities by the project team and, if applicable, partners, according to the (annual) workplan;
  • Monitors project budgets, planning, and Monitoring & Evaluation processes;
  • Leads and coordinates a multi-disciplinary project team throughout different phases of the project lifecycle;
  • Ensures qualitative and timely reporting to donors and/or partners;
  • Captures, analyses and distributes lessons learned in the project teams and in the Programme Management Team/the wider organisation;
  • Maintains regular contact with and ensures meaningful collaboration with donor and partner organisations;
  • Supports other Project Leads in their project management tasks where necessary.
  • Contributes to the development of project management methodologies, guidelines, and templates to be used by all project teams;
  • Supports in strengthening project management capabilities in the organisation.

Knowledge and experience 

The Project Manager has:  

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree;
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in project management, preferably in an international setting;
  • Excellent project management skills (task and time management, budget management, reporting, a.o.);
  • Fluent in English. Fluency in Spanish and/or French is considered a plus;
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and in writing;
  • Experience in managing (international) project teams;
  • Hands-on mentality and pro-active problem-solving skills;

At RNW Media we have a competitive Compensation & Benefits package. This job is graded in salary scale 6 (€2949,84 – € 4074,90). Your salary will be dependent on experience and expertise. We offer a 7-month contract, subject to renewal.
